Rosette Dramatic LARP
Rosette Dramatic LARP is an approach to LARP that focuses on collaborative storytelling and consent-based conflict resolution. You can roleplay everything from complex combat to intricate political debate with the same set of simple, quick-playing rules.
This is a guide to a certain kind of theatrical LARP. Theatrical LARP games like Rosette Dramatic LARP feel a lot like tabletop roleplaying games. LARP stands for live-action roleplaying. Each player controls a character of their own design in an ongoing campaign or series of sessions with connecting story. The players embody their characters, walking and talking in-character as if they were actors in a play. Any particularly dramatic action is narrated, described with words, instead of acted out. For example, conversations and arguments are acted out, but fights and footraces are pantomimed and described.
As with the rest of Rosette, Rosette Dramatic LARP has an agenda: it is dedicated to a consensus-based, story-first, and improvisational approach. We believe that this creates the best social environment for creating and expressing stories that incorporate everyone's creativity.
Rosette Dramatic LARP is a complete, standalone book containing the core principles, character creation and advancement rules, conflict resolution system, and story-running techniques for live action games. It has the same priciples and "pick up and play" style as the Rosette tabletop books, but the tabletop books are a separate system.
Rosette Dramatic LARP will be available in the summer of 2017 via DriveThruRPG, itch.io, and Amazon for $10.
